Colleen M. Takamura, M.Acc., CPA - Manager
Ms. Takamura is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of Hawaii.  She received a Master in Accounting degree from Ohio State University. She also graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Ms. Takamura has approximately 36 years of public and private accounting experience.  Upon graduating from college, she worked in the Maui Office of Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (now Deloitte) until 1985.  She then worked for Niwao & Roberts from its formation in 1985 to 1988.  Prior to rejoining Niwao & Roberts in January 1996, she served as controller for a prominent construction company in the State of Hawaii and as a part-time accountant for her father's CPA practice in Hilo, Hawaii.

Ms. Takamura has substantial experience in auditing companies in various industries, including construction, agribusiness, real estate development and rental, retail, and cemetery and trusts, as well as nonprofit organizations that receive Federal and State of Hawaii funds. She also has extensive experience in review and compilation engagements, and in tax preparation for individuals and business entities.

Ms. Takamura is a member of the Hawaii Association of Public Accountants and currently serves as a State vice-president and as president of its Maui Chapter. Ms. Takamura was elected outstanding member of the Maui Chapter of the Hawaii Association of Public Accountants in 1996. She also serves as treasurer of the Wailoani Commujnity Association and was past treasurer for the Maui Okinawa Cultural Center.  She has also been active in Big Brothers - Big Sisters of Maui.  In addition, Ms. Takamura served as chairperson of the State of Hawaii Tax Review Commission 2015 - 2017.  The State Tax Review Commission conducts a systematic review of Hawaii's tax structure every five years, using standards such as equity and efficiency.
